Every event photo sharing option solves the same problem, getting guests' photos into one place, but they differ in three things that matter more than features: what guests have to do, what you pay and how often, and how long your photos stay online.
Prices below are from the providers' public pages and reviews as of October 2026. They change often; check each provider before you buy.
| Option | Price | What guests do | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp group | Free | Join the group (phone number) | Heavy compression; scattered across chats |
| Google Photos shared album | Free (uses your Google storage) | Google account to add photos | Good quality; owner manages permissions |
| Per-event QR apps (e.g. WedUploader, Wedibox, GuestCam) | About $39–$49 one-time per event | Scan, no app | Built for weddings; check how long albums stay online |
| Yearly photo platforms (e.g. Kwikpic) | Free tier, then from ₹790/year for general users | App or web; face search | Strong for photographers and big events; yearly renewal |
| HoldQR album | Free up to 50 photos; Event Pass $12 one-time | Scan, no app | 1,500 photos + 30 clips per pass, kept with no renewal |
1. What guests have to do
This decides how many photos you actually get. Every extra step (installing an app, creating an account, joining a group) loses guests, especially older relatives. Options where guests scan a code and upload from the browser collect the most photos. Google Photos works well for guests who already use it, but asks everyone else to sign in.
2. Price model
- Free tools cost nothing but compress photos (WhatsApp) or depend on your personal storage (Google Photos).
- Per-event apps charge once per event, typically around $39–$49. Good value for one wedding, less so if you host events often.
- Yearly platforms such as Kwikpic charge an annual fee by photo volume. They suit photographers and organisers who run many events, and offer extras like face recognition.
- HoldQR is free for small albums and charges a one-time $12 Event Pass per large album, with no renewal.
3. How long photos stay online
Ask this before you pay. Some services keep albums for a limited period or require a renewal to keep them online; others keep them indefinitely. Whatever you choose, download a full copy after the event.
4. Features that actually matter on the day
- Bulk upload: guests should be able to select many photos at once.
- Live slideshow: photos appearing on a screen at the venue is the best way to get more uploads.
- Moderation: the ability to approve or hide photos before they are shown.
- Download everything: a full-quality ZIP export, not one-by-one saving.
- Video: short clips are popular for first dances and toasts.
Which should you choose?
- Small family gathering: a free option is fine. A Google Photos shared album or a free HoldQR album both work.
- One wedding: choose a no-app QR album with a slideshow and full download. Compare one-time prices.
- Photographer or frequent organiser: a yearly platform with face search may be worth it.
