A printed visiting card has two problems: it runs out, and it goes out of date. Change your phone number, move shop or add a WhatsApp line, and every card in every customer's wallet is wrong. A digital business card fixes both: you print a QR code once, and what it shows can change whenever you need.
How a QR digital business card works
The QR code opens a small page about your business on the customer's phone. From there they can call you, message you on WhatsApp, get directions, see your hours, and tap Save contact to add you to their phone contacts with your name, number, email and address filled in. Nothing to install.
There are two kinds of QR business card. A vCard QR code stores the contact details inside the code itself: it works offline, but can never be changed after printing. A business profile QR code links to a page you can edit, with buttons and a Save contact option. For anything printed in bulk, the editable kind saves reprinting.
What to put on it
- Phone and WhatsApp: many customers prefer to message first.
- Directions: a Google Maps link to your exact entrance.
- Opening hours: so people don't call or visit when you're closed.
- UPI ID: a Pay button for advance payments and repeat orders.
- Website, catalogue or menu link and your Instagram or YouTube.
- Google review link: the best moment to ask is right after a good experience.
Keep it short. A customer scanning at your counter wants to act, not read.
Where to use it
- On the back of your existing visiting card, so old and new contacts both work.
- Counter standee and shop door, for walk-ins who want to save you for later.
- Packaging, bills and delivery bags, for repeat orders.
- WhatsApp status and email signature, by sharing the page link itself.
Printing tips
- On a standard visiting card, print the code at least 2 cm wide with a white margin around it.
- Dark code on a light background; avoid gold foil on the code itself.
- Write one line next to it: “Scan to save our number” or “Scan to call, WhatsApp or pay”.
- Test the printed card on an iPhone and an Android phone before printing the full batch.
Checklist
- Create your profile with phone, WhatsApp, address, hours and UPI ID.
- Check every button on your own phone.
- Download the QR code as SVG for your printer.
- Print a test card and scan it before ordering the batch.
