Text QR Code Generator
Encode plain text, serial numbers, cryptographic keys, and offline notes into crisp, high-resolution QR codes. Works completely offline with free SVG and PNG export.
What should the QR open?
static — Text details are stored inside the code itself, so it works offline but can't be edited after printing.

How to Create a Text QR Code
1. Enter Plain Text
Type or paste any notes, instructions, inventory serial numbers, or coupon codes into the text area.
2. Check Density & Contrast
Monitor the live character count and scannability density meter to ensure your code remains quick to scan on all phones.
3. Download & Publish
Download vector SVG for product labels or high-res PNG for manuals, documentation, and packaging.
Character Limits & Optical Scannability
The Data Density Trade-off
As character length increases, the QR algorithm adds more concentric rings of data modules. A 50-character code produces a simple 29×29 matrix, while an 800-character code requires an intricate 85×85 matrix. If printed on a small 1-inch sticker, phone cameras may fail to resolve the individual dots.
Industrial & Asset Tracking
Text QR codes are the industry standard for machinery serial numbers, IT equipment inventory tags, and warehouse bin identifiers because barcode scanners can read them instantly without pinging external databases.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does scanning a plain text QR code open a browser?
No. Because there is no web URL protocol (http:// or https://), your smartphone displays the raw text directly in a popup card on screen.
How much text can fit inside a single QR code?
A QR code can theoretically store up to 4,296 alphanumeric characters. However, encoding more than 300 to 500 characters produces an extremely dense dot pattern that becomes difficult for smartphone cameras to read unless printed very large.
Does a text QR code require internet access to read?
No! The text is stored directly inside the geometric matrix pattern. Anyone can scan and read the text in complete offline environments, basements, or airplanes.
Can I edit the text after printing?
No. Static QR codes encode characters permanently into ink. If the text needs to change regularly, you should create a dynamic QR code pointing to a web page where you can edit text anytime.
